Art For the Sky residencies vary in price depending on the distance from my home in Oregon and if I will be doing other projects in your region at the same time. The fee covers all travel expenses. It does not cover lodging. Usually I stay with a host family or the school get's a hotel room comped. The fee covers all pre-design work and the creation of a DVD of the specially crafted film of the entire project put to music and shown during the final assembly. Copies of the DVD are often sold back to parents for $10 to help pay for the project.
Grants for Art For the Sky are rarely turned down. I am happy to provide succesful grant narratives as an aid in your grant writing. PTOs generally love the program and commonly pay for it. Some schools have raised substantial funds via "box-tops-for-education" drives and the like. Sometimes
well heeled community members or businesses help
fund these projects and play a part in bringing some notoriety
to the school. Pictures
of the image and a story are commonly featured on the front page
of the local newspaper (see some headlines). Some schools have found
ways to use Art For the Sky itself as a fund raiser.
Please contact me and tell me about your school! I will get right back to you with a fee. Scheduling a residency should be done as far in advance as possible as slots fill up quickly, especially in spring and fall. A 25% deposit is required to secure a date.
Good luck in your efforts!
"When
the photos of our completed project were projected giant
size on the auditorium wall, the crowd cheered on and on
like the winning shot in the last second of a tied basketball
game! It was deafening. Finally art got the attention it
deserved! The best thing was that it was not just one person's
piece, it was formed by 935 children and a few adults.
We all felt like rock stars!"
